98 ram 2500 5.9l gas keeps popping P505 code

Default 98 ram 2500 5.9l gas keeps popping P505 code

Been having lots of trouble with my old truck here lately, but just got done with a tune up new plugs wires cap and rotor with a coil changed out tps and a new idle air control valve. My mysterious misfire has finally went away but it's idling high and when driving very little response from the pedal. What's wrong with this thing now? Any ideas ?

Sounds like maybe a vacuum leak. And what brand IAC and sensor

That code is for the IAC motor...... Is it plugged in good? Did you clean the throttle body?

Yeah, brand new Napa echlin iac valve snapped in place, no vaccume leaks just idles at around 1200-1500. Replaced the pcm about a month ago when it broke down last time

Try disconnect negative battery for a few minutes. Turn on headlights to discharge any remaining power. Reconnect and see if anything changes. If still problem, assuming no other things found like mentioned vac leak, might want to exchange sensor or get from dealer instead. Some sensors better from dealer due to specification differences.

Tried all that and still idles at 1200 and normal is around 700 check engine light back on and it's p505 big shocker there, about ready to take it to the dealer

Buy a dodge IAC. Could be your problem. I heard other brands don't work very well with these trucks

Why did you change out the TPS? If you still have the old one, try putting it back in and see what happens.

Got a volt meter? If so, check the pins in the connector for the IAC, with ignition on, engine off, you should see 12 volts on two of the pins, and the other two should be grounded.
