Possible starter issues?

TIA

The backstory:

The truck (2001 1500 V6) has been driving fine. Just tuned up a couple months ago, it also passed smog check.

My wife borrows to help move stuff at work. She turns aircon on for ride home, leaves it on but turns key off.

This morning I get in truck, put key in ignition turn and notice sluggish dash lights, aircon on, no engine turn. Basically dead battery.

Pop hood, notice corrosion on positive pole. After further examination I decide to replace battery clamp. Cleaned battery wires completely, replaced clamp. Done.

Put jump charger on battery. Turn key, all dash lights, dome lights etc, fire up as normal. No engine crank. Nada. Not even a squeak. I check jump charger, full charge. I disconnect jump charger, turn key, all light etc fire up per normal. Turn key for engine start....nada, dead silent.

I put the truck in gear shook it around, pounded on the starter, swore...nada

Before I replace the starter does anyone have an idea as to the problem?

Thank you

yank the starter and have the parts store test it. Check all your grounds and power to the starter as well.

check relays as well

Swap the starter and horn relays first. If you aren't even hearing a click, that's where to look.

Checked all wires. Looks solid. I did find an oil leak in the rear main, will leave that for another day.

Tomorrows plan is to pull starter.

Thanks

Check the relays first. Physically swap them. May be that simple.

Is a relay a fuse?

Thanks

Nope. Little rectangular plastic box. Bunch of 'em in the PDC, which is immediately behind the battery, under the hood. There is a legend under the cover, that will tell you who does what in there. Just swap horn and starter relays (I do believe they are all the same), and see if that doesn't solve the issue. (provided your horn actually works at the moment....)
