faint rattle under acceleration
What's up guys. For the last couple of months I have finally been getting around to getting some work done on my Ram. Recently i noticed that my engine makes a ticking noise when I start it up in the morning. Ticks for about 30sec to a min with 1sec between ticks. Once it's done it doesn't do it anymore at idle. Secondly when I give the truck some throttle notice a faint rattle/tick noise. And when I punch it, it sounds a bit louder. Any ideas?? Thanks guys

Well just read quite a bit of the stickie, and I think it may be the plenum. Got a magnet down in the throttle body, and it stuck, so it's original. Didn't look too bad when I looked down with a flashlight. I have been going through some oil between changes, and my mpg isn't great (avg ~10mpg all city). Going to order the Hughes kit this upcoming month and tackle the plenum. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction fellas

I was getting a rattle about 2 months ago. It happened as I was seafoaming and revving the engine. I have the hughes plenum, and I knew it was not pinging. It was the heat shield by the exhaust manifolds. When your car is cold, bend it back with your finger and release. It sounds JUST like pinging and would act us when I started the truck and go away/come back intermittently.
Give it a look.

Well I took a look at the heat shield and the driver side one was pretty much ready to fall off. It did make some noise. I just took it off (that won't be a problem right?). But I just ordered the Hughes kit and my new shocks yesterday, and the plenum needs to be done anyways. Hopefully its not to bad to do. Looked at the write up someone did that was linked on Hughes website and it doesn't look too difficult, just time consuming.
