Hello Gentlemen! I could use a little advice on an 01 dodge truck with the 5.2


I just finish completely rebuilding the engine did the long block with all new parts.


just got it to fire off this evening, but I am having an issue with it.
It will idol nicely with no surging up or down during idol.


But when I step on the accelerator it will idle up smoothly, but will die/shut off when I release the accelerator pedal.


I replace the intake plenum gasket, after having the intake boiled and cleaned at machine shop. I am really hoping this is not the problem.
I thought it could be the IAC but does not act as if it were the cause.


any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Does it die after the rpm drops below idle or immediately after letting off accelerator at higher rpms?

The IAC can take a couple warm up cycles to learn idle, mine would almost die at stops after rebuild until driving it a few times.

 

It Dies immediately after letting off accelerator at higher rpm and low rpm
I have not driven it because of this issue.

 

Make sure the battery is fully charged and try to get it to idle on it's own by slowly letting of the gas. It may take a few tries because the pcm needs to relearn all the sensors.
