Wiper Issues

Have A 01 ram 1500 laramie SLT 4X4 witht he 5.9. Turn signals and wipers were acting up. Changed switch and both relays. Signals working great. Wipers returned to stopping along its path when in delay mode. What am I missing? Please help.

Wiper motor, or central timer module.

Central timer module? Always thought that was part of the multifunction switch.

Is it located under the lower left kick panel?

Grab the 01 service manual from here. It will tell you where it is. Should also have some troubleshooting tips for the wipers. I *Think* the CTM is actually responsible for pulsing the wipers..... but, I drive a 96.... which is completely different. :D

Mine started doing this this weekend. HeyYou are you sure it its the CTM and not the Wiper Relay?

If the wipers are moving, it's not the relay. Yes, prob the CTM. To the right of the steering column, behind the knee panel. When you remove the panel, you will see a metal support. Then you can see the 2 screws for the CTM, which is on the back (hidden) side of that metal support. If you can visualize it, it is just to the left of the ashtray, when it's closed.

The switch tells the CTM which mode it's in and the timing interval, but it's the CTM that controls it all.

Ok, been reading up on it and it sounds like there are two versions, and even that it might need to be flashed? Is that true?

Flash the CTM? Not sure that is even possible. I think it's just a "replace" kind of thing. Yes, there are two versions, one for most trucks and one for the "highline" version. I cannot remember what the highline means but I believe that they are somewhat rare.
