Fog lights wont turn off!!
Hello all, I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport. Just recently the fog lights are stuck on. Also the indicator near the headlight switch is lit up. I unplugged the switch, still on. I pull out the relay, still on. They will not turn off unless you pull the fuse. I am told it may possibly need the whole power distribution center under the hood. Any one have this problem??? Know any other things that may be the cause?? Any information at all will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Foglights are always powered, and the headlamp switch controls the ground, via the relay. You have a short somewhere in the ground wire, between the fogs, and the relay. Trace the wiring, you should be able to find it.

Just for giggles...
Do they go out when you flip the high beams on? It may help tell us where the short may be. My thought is "no" but I'm curious. |

Something to add... With the fog lamp fuse and relay both pulled. The indicator is still on by the switch.

With the relay out and the headlight switch wiring pulled and the fogs still on, your short is in a light blue, 20 gauge wire from the actual fog lights to a splice called s134, to connector c105, to splice 110 to the socket of the fog light relay (terminal 30) OR from splice s110 to c134 to the terminal for the indicator light on the headlight switch assembly.
FYI, I am on page 8w-50-10 in the service manual. |

They stay on with the high beams.

So the fog switch controls the ground... thanks for that info! I couldn't get mine to turn on and both had good 12v showing at the plug. Confused me until now, I used a chassis ground for my test light.. duh
