Default Elecrical issue?

So after my transmission went a few weeks ago, I finally got my new trans in along with everything else. While the trans was out I replaced my plenum, head gaskets, plugs wires cap rotor, column bishing, front wheel bearings, axle seals, ball joints and u joints.

Anyways I got everything back together tonight and it fired up right away and runs well. I ran the shifter through the gears and kept adding/checking fluid as necessary. Right away upon startup my brake light and abs light were on on the dash. About a minute after startup the o/d off light came on and the trans temp light. If I push the o/d off switch the light stays on. I felt the trans coolers and the transmission and definitely not hot.

Upon looking through my service manual it looks like everything shares ground 200. Where is this located? The only grounds I removed were the ones from the back of the cylinder heads to the cowl.

There's 2 ring terminals on the right side (1 to the cylinder head, 1 to the pcm) and 1 on the left. (From the cowl to the cylinder head) am I missing one of these?

So after about 10 minutes of fluid fill and bleeding I took the truck around the block and it shifted smooth 1st through 3rd. I didn't go far enough or fast enough to get into overdrive because my speedometer doesn't work either.

Before the trans went out, I had no lights on on the dash, and the speedometer worked. So I'm thinking a common ground issue but would like some other input.

Did you replace your trans, or have it rebuilt? It sounds for all the world like you got the wrong year...... so the electronics are mismatched, and a sensor is missing altogether. (VSS)

You can edit your sig....... Please do, less confusing that way.

If the trans has the original electronics in it, (or, even knew electronics for the year) that is a large part of your problem. Things changed in 00, and the pressure sensor uses different range for the same info, and the older PCM is not aware of that, so, you get that kind of behavior. Need to change the governor pressure sensor, and the solenoid. However, the retainer for one or the other is different as well..... and you need that too.

If I pull my governor pressure sensor and solenoid out of my original trans will they swap directly into the new one? Should I swap the output speed sensor also? Would this also cause the speedo/and/brake light problem?

Should be able to directly transplant the governor parts, need the retainer from the older trans too.

On the 99, the speedometer gets its cue (indirectly) from the rear wheel speed sensor. There is no sensor on the t-case. (at least, there shouldn't be......) The trans has an 'output speed sensor', but, PCM only uses that for shifting purposes. (not sure why it doesn't use the same one as the speedo..... one right outta the department of redundancy department.)

Alright so I got everything all straightened out now. I pulled the governor solenoid and sensor out of both transmissions to swap them. Turns out the 2001 trans had a different connector for the governor sensor. So I dropped the valve bodies and swapped the electrical harness from my 99 trans into the 2001. Also swapped all of my sensors into the new trans. That cleared up the temp light and overdrive issue.

Brake, abs and speedo were still a problem so I changed the sensor in the rear diff. Turns out that went bad at the same time as the trans went out. Changing the sensor fixed the issues. So far I've put about 50 miles on everything and it seems to be alright so far.

I'm still planning on having my original trans rebuilt. Should I stay away from the stage 2 transmission rebuild kits on eBay or are they decent? They appear to be the quality ones.

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/272029129819
