95 Ram 1500 5.9 Idle up/down no O/D!!
I have a 95 1500 5.9 4x4. The idle is up and down and when put into gear it's drops almost dieing, the O/D will not engage now after it jumped in an out doin 75mph. The only codes are battery disconnect last 50 cycles and ECT voltage to high or low, vacuum leak I think cuz air almost stays on defrost. Any Suggestions??

22: Engine Coolant temperature sensor input out of normal range. Check engine temperature sensor.
You have two sensors on yours, a one wire, on the passenger side of the intake, on the front coolant cross-over, that's for the gauge. There is a second sensor, right by the thermostat housing, that is a two-wire, that the PCM pays attention to. Need to check that one. (and of course, it is the one that is the most fun to get to.....) PCM getting wrong temp reading will cause all sorts of havoc.

Yeah, the trans goes into O/D too early, and is very reluctant to come out. Mine does that too. 1100 RPM at 45 mph, the truck is a friggin' dog, and you really need to press on the pedal to get it to downshift, and accelerate.. And then it drops to second, and REALLY goes.. It's annoying.
