Well I changed the plugs twice and it only ran for like 10 min in the driveway. Pulled the plugs and they were black and smelled like fuel. Don't know if any codes don't have an obd1 scanner. But the light wasn't on
Some failures won't set a code.... as the PCM doesn't really know if the sensor is lying or not.... I would have a hard look at the ECT next to the thermostat housing though.... Is it plugged in? Is it broken? Kinda hard to see....... but, need to verify it.
Your truck has two sensors. One for the gauge, which is evidently working, and one for the PCM, which may or may not be....... Can you lay your hands on a scanner that can read data? Need to see what temp the PCM thinks the engine is.
