Default Wrong fuel pump

So here goes when I first got my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.2 the gas gauge didn't work because the guy before me replaced the fuel pump and installed it crooked well I'm trying to figure out if he even put the correct fuel pump in it as my truck has the 35gallon tank how would I Ben able to know if he put the 26-34 gallon pump in it without having to drop the tank are there any major differences or maybe a part number on top

If the guy was cheap(like me a month ago) and bought the little pump "rebuild" kit, it doesn't work. You have to replace the whole module even though a bunch of sellers on Ebay say "1998-2001 Dodge Ram 5.2L". You can gerry rig the kit in but you ruin the old module, including the gauge sending unit. If you can't live without a guage you will have to drop the tank.

P.s. I wouldn't gerry rig mine and ordered the right module.

I think they are the same but don't quote on it. The pump assembly can be moved up or down to adjust to different size tanks. You need to take note of the positioning before you remove it!!!

Well they make 1 pump for the 26-34 gallon tank and another one designed for the 35 gallon tank
