"no bus" after engine swap

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 3.9 manual transmission. I swapped the 5.2l engine, computer and harness from a 97 ram 1500 into my truck (still using the manual transmission) and now have the "no bus" light, gauges stopped working as well.

I have replaced the Crankshaft sensor with the sensor for a 97 5.2l (manual trans)
the truck will start but only if I jump the starter relay with a wire (could be neutral safety switch), it will barely stay running but only if I apply a little throttle, but will not accelerate at all.

Any advise would be appreciated

You're going to need a computer from a 98.5 or newer truck to work with your dash, or change your dash to the 97 (first is easier by far). There were some major changes from 97 to 98 in the dash wiring, and as far as I know they don't interchange. I could be wrong though.

Frankie is correct. A lot changed from 97 to 99..... You should get the harness as well as the PCM.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense, i'll give that a try. Would changing the harness and PCM make the engine run proper now and accelerate?

Probably. But, you'll have to test that theory.
