Default Vin tag

Is the vin tag in our trucks riveted to the dash top or the cab itself? I'm going to be doing an extensive swap between my trucks and while I have the dash out I'm going to install a new dash top from LMC. wondering if I'll have to swap the vin tag onto the new dash or not.

It's attached to the dash, only takes a couple minutes to switch it over though

did you just use regular rivets to re-attach the tag?

Yes, reg rivets. I'd be tempted to pull the entire dash to replace top. really not that hard, and it installs better as a complete unit. Dash will tilt back but it's tight for me . Pulling column would make it much easier i think as it would rotate back further.

Yeah, I'll be pulling the complete dash out. I am taking the cab and body off my truck and putting it onto the diesel I just bought. I need the harness out of the diesel and will install that into my truck.
