Default Loss of power while driving 99 dodge ram

So our 99 dodge ram 1500 (v8) was going completely fine when it all of a sudden lost power and dropped down to no more than about 20mph max speed. No acceleration capability and was stuttering.... Won't go higher than about 2 rpms We took it as far as we could to get back home but it eventually lost all power and will not turn back on.... Any suggestions? Help?

Check for any fuel pressure when depressing the shrader valve on the fuel rail. Wrap a rag around that area in case there is, if nothing comes out it very well could be a failed fuel pump. On my '99 with v10 it failed after 19,000 miles.

So I got it back from the mechanic and they did a tuneup, replaced spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, distributor cap and cleaned the catalytic converter (which was 100% plugged with debris ) truck started up no problem with better power than it did...
