Doe's anybody have any suggestions for how to deal with this? I'm thinking about making a bracket to pickup a bell housing bolt. I can try welding it or braising it, but I don't want to have to disassemble the case. Can I get buy welding it with just removing the pump?

It's aluminum. With the right equipment, you might be able to weld it.

Yes, I have the right equipment, however welding cast aluminum can be difficult, especially something that's been soaked in oil/grease/dirt. You usually need to heat it up to cook off the dirt and oil, What I'm trying to avoid is disassembling the transmission to prevent anything with a seal from getting too hot and melting. If I was going to disassemble the transmission I could just get a new housing for $150 or so, but that's a lot of work.

Drill and tap it, and screw it back on?

Not many good alternatives there......
