Cruddy Steering Fixes
I personally thought I would make this thread to help new people to the forums on what their options are on upgrading their steering. I will update as I add more information.
FOR ALL RAMS UPGRADING TO THE 3RD GEN TRACK BAR IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED This thread also assumes that all other suspension and steering components are in good shape (will update later on better steering boxes and procedures for checking other parts) 99-02 Ram 1500/2500/3500 OPTION 1: Found a new steering kit. It is the one that uses factory '09-'10 steering parts to upgrade your '03-'08 truck to the inverted "T" style steering instead of the inverted "Y" that came factory. It only fits 99-02 Rams (newer 2nd gens) to install on 98 and later you have to ream out the TRE holes. This kit has been recalled for driver's side TRE busting as aligning it requires a special procedure. This is more heavy duty then the 98-99 HD T steering setup. OPTION 2: Aftermarket kits such as DOR 94-98 1500 OPTION 1: 98-99 HD T steering upgrade this will bolt right in. Get ACDelco parts as they have the correct puck style (if you get a different brand you'll have to buy that puck separate thanks RamMan) OPTION 2: Aftermarket kit 94-97 2500/3500 ONLY ONE OPTION: After market kit |
Do I hear an echo in here . . . ?
:icon_deadhorse: I tease because we go through phases of this topic every two years or so. Most of this info should be stickied somewhere already. If not, then it is good to make a single thread that we can point everyone towards. |

That's the idea. :) Get everything in one place, verified accurate, then move it to the FAQ/DIY section. :D
