2001 Ram transmission troubles
 

As the title suggests I'm having a nightmare with transmissions. I took it to a shop to get it rebuilt, they put it back in and it was worse than before, so they gave me three choices 1 refund, 2 put a used one in guaranteed under 90,000 miles on it, 3 wait a few weeks to have a specialist look at it. I decided to go with the used transmission. A week later it was in and seemed to be fine at first when cold but as soon as it got warm, driving temp I guess it didn't want toshift into third. Took it back and they put another used tranny in and it shifted great then when we were just about to get back to the shop the O/D off light came on and as with the previous tranny's that meant soon after the trans temp light would come on and it did. That was yesterday today I drove it to work no problem, was driving it home tonight and a loud squalling noise just before I got home but it stopped so didn't think much of it then went to park and I have no reverse. which by the way was the exact things the other trannys did. What the heck is going on ? Anybody.

2001 dodge ram, 4x4, 5.9L Automatic. By the way, The 4x4 light doesn't come on now either.

You may have a wiring issue

I'd say find another trany shop. Was the check valve by the radiator removed? No 4X4 is most likely a vac issue, There are plenty of threads on this. The trany shop should have done a pressure test at least that will tell you if it's a fluid pressure issue.

Have the tranny shop check all wires going to tranny from pcm.

What years was the donor for the current trans?

Not sure really.

Need to find out. Sensors changed.
