Clunk noise while driving?
 

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, with the 5.2 Magnum in it. My problem is while I'm driving I tend to feel a big clunk once in a while. It usually is when I'm going 40 mph and above, never below. While driving I'm at a steady rpm and out of no where a big clunk will sound off and it never drags the rpm down or anything else. It has been more recent and I would like to get it fix. Im sure its a transmission issue, due to it not affecting the engine's rpm while driving. Looking for help if anyone knows of the problem. It is 4 wheel drive.

U joints?

I have seen a video of that. The clunking that is. I hear the U joints are major PIA to replace. Lots of beating.

Bigger hammer makes it easier. :D

Does the clunking happen on what kind of road surface? On two wheel drive or four wheel drive?

Nah, just a couple of correct size sockets and a moderately sized hammer is all you need. After you've done it few times it's easy. But first time takes some practice to get used to method :icon_smash: :icon_lol:
