98 1500 codes P0118, P0123, P0113, P1492, P0463
 

Hi,

I Replaced water pump, thermostat/housing all hoses and heater core, the temperature sending unit and wire harness was damaged, it fell apart when taking it off. I put it back together, Started the truck pulled out of the garage checked for leaks. then the check eng light came on. Pulled the truck back in the garage shut it off and checked the errors it gave me P0118 coolant temp error, I cleared the code re-seated the connector. went to start it wont start it cranks no start. checked codes, got P0118, P0123, P0113, P1492, P0463. I took the connector apart
put some heat shrink around the termanls. I did not take note of what color wire was ware. any one know? I assume when the circuit is complete it should start? Would this cause the Truck to not start?

P0118 Engine Coolant Temp Sensor Voltage Too High
P0123 Throttle Position Sensor #1 Voltage High
P0113 Intake Air Temp Sensor Voltage Too High
P1492 Battery Temperature Sensor Voltage Too High
P0463 Fuel Level Sending Unit Voltage Too High

Yes the coolant temp sensor.

I briged the coolant temp wires(just for testing), and that error went away. But I am still getting all the other errors. When I clear them they instantly come back.

Check and see what the actual voltage you are getting on the five volt bus.

Hello,

I checked the voltage at Crankshaft Position Sensor... Nothing.

Could a bad CPS throw high voltage issues though? Isn’t that harness on the same system as all the other sensors or am I way off?

Yeah, I think most of the sensors that want 5 volts get it from the same place...... so, if one fails, they ALL fail. Need to find out where it's going.
