Default 01 Dodge ram p1491

2001 Ram 1500 with a p1491 code but I have a clutch fan and my power distribution has no #39 fuse or condenser fan relay. Can anyone help me out with this?

Well that's just bizarre..... You are correct, you don't have an electric fan. I don't think it was even an option on the 2nd gen trucks. Clear the codes, see if it comes back.

Welcome to DF!

I cleared the code and it came right back. It's running pretty bad but that is the only code that is coming up. I smoked the vacuum system and found no leaks. Replaced the gas cap because i read something about that associated with this code but i'm sure that was for a 2004. I'm stumped. I don't want to just start replacing stuff and hope for the best. Could it be the computer? The reason i ask that is because I don't think that code should come up for this vehicle or am I wrong? Anyway thank you for your time and like your username,,,

I agree with you. You shouldn't be seeing that code.... and the PCM shouldn't even really have it in the programming. It's gotta be a screw up in the PCM itself. I would think...... Might try having the dealer re-flash it, just on the off chance it got the wrong programming somewhere down the line....

Are you reading the code with a diag tool/code reader or via the "key dance" ? Might be a sw issue in the scan tool.
