Transmission won't shift from first
I have a 01 1500 and it won't shift out of first gear. I've tried adjusting the TV cable and I've changed the governor sensor and solenoid. I was told that if the TV cable is to tight it won't shift from first so I started there and now matter what way I adjust it it don't seem to change anything. Now I've heard that if I have a bad o2 sensor it could cause problems cause the sensor and transmission share the same volts. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Disconnect the 8 pin connector on the drivers side of the trans. It's about halfway back, and plugs straight down into the top of where the valve body is. Go for a drive. The trans won't have ANY automatic function, so shift it like a manual trans. See if the trans will then actually shift into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to.
Also, are you getting any trans codes? Any codes at all? |
I've gotten codes p0132 and p0135

You could try unplugging the O2 sensors, and see if anything changes.

Is there any tricks to unplug the 8 pin connector? And the truck shifted fine before and I tried to adjust some of the slack I had at the pedal, so once I got that adjusted I adjusted the TV cable and that's when it started to not shift from first. But since then I've got the pedal back to where it was before.

Should just press down on the lock, and pull straight up. If you have changed the electronics already, then you have already disconnected it at least once.

It's been a while but I've finally gotten back around to working on my truck but when I unplug the 8 pin connector I can get it to shift from first to second do I need to replace that connctor?
|
Probably not. Need to see what the PCM is seeing from the pressure sensor.
|
How would I go about doing that.

Need a scanner that can read live data. Either that, or a gauge with a long enough hose to reach into the passenger compartment.
