I used a hypertech power programmer. Once I installed the new program, my performance increased a ton. Even with a new throttle body, I couldn't spin the rear tires. Once I got the power program in there, I could spin the rear tires from a dead stop any time I wanted. The truck pulls alot better and overall, the drivability of the truck is way better than before. If you have the death flash on your truck, I would highly recommend the hypertech programmer.

Thanks. I have thought about one of those, or a Superchips, cause I have the death flash. Don't know if I'm ready to buck up with $400. Did you get a significant mileage increase?
I probably couldn't burn the tires anyway with 3.55 gears.......[sm=gears.gif][sm=sigh.gif]

I've got 3.55s in my Ram and I can lay a good 50 ft of rubber even with the 295/75 (a bit over 33 inches) BFGs. I do have a Superchips Max Tuner, but even before that, it wouldn't even think twice about turning 'em over. [sm=icon_rock.gif]

Mileage did increase a good bit after adding the tuner. I am running 4.10 gears and I get about 20mpg on the highway. Also, if you are looking to get a hypertech alot cheaper that $400, try this site. http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/s...GTKW=hypertech
This site has the hypertech for $284 including shipping.

Factory attempt to reduce pinging by taking timing out of the engine. Results were less pinging (but definately not a fix), but also alot less power. From what I am told, the hypertech has the best effect on trucks that have the death flash because there is such a dramatic difference between the death flash program and the performance program.

O R T, what program do you run it on, the 87 or Premium, and does it stay hooked up all the time or only when you program it? Is it easy to figure out how to work it? $284 I might be able to do........

I am running the 87 program. I tried both of them and didn't really see that much of a difference between the two. So I figured I would stick with the 87 and save myself some money on gas. Once the truck is programmed, you don't need to keep the programmer hooked up. I keep mine in the garage and use it as a code reader, which is another nice function. Figuring it out is really easy, all you have to do is plug it in and answer some yes or no questions.

Just ordered one. Just for info purposes, a dealer tech told me to make sure and reset the program back to stock if you take the truck to a dealer for warranty work or a diagnosis. He said the hypertech program will cause their diagnostic computer to mess up. Not to mention the warranty might be compromised........He also said it was a good idea and the truck should run a lot better with it.....
