CAI on ebay: what's the best?
.... for my 1997 5.9L?
K&N http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true or ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true thanks |
RE: CAI on ebay: what's the best?
K & N IMO would be the best. Its all kind of personal preferenc though.

RE: CAI on ebay: what's the best?
It's hard to know without seeing them installed on the motor. I would see if the others (besides K&N) have a web site with pics of them installed so you can see exactly where the filters and shields end up in the motor compartment.

RE: CAI on ebay: what's the best?
il think K&N is the way to go, I should consider also mounting issues, unknown on other kits...

RE: CAI on ebay: what's the best?
mhhh S&B uses K&N filter seems good...
the pics are taken from the PDF http://www.sbfilters.com/pdf/install...1%20013106.pdf |
RE: CAI on ebay: what's the best?
S&B doesn't seem much different than installing a K&N filter in the stock housing. Gets air from same hole.
Here is the other. http://www.streetandperformanceelect...inst/35925.pdf |
RE: CAI on ebay: what's the best?
tha point is:
the stock air intake gest fresh air from a duct between the mudguard and the fender: this air should be much more cold than that supposed to be fresh taken by all the CAI: those sistems get air from inside the hood! is that a real performance improovement? Air under the hood is hotter!!! |
RE: CAI on ebay: what's the best?
$40 bucks for a K&N drop in filter and roll on. Just my opininion....
|
RE: CAI on ebay: what's the best?
How good is the drop in compared to the FIPK?

This guy did one hell of a home brewed study on this subject:
https://dodgeforum.com/m_403189/mpag.../tm.htm#420167 If you keep on reading he started doing tests with a mock CAI. The last two posts are pretty funny |
