P0740
i have 97 1500 w/ the 360 in it and Im getting P0740 which is torque converter clutch solenoid circuit malfunction. Does any body know how to troubleshoot this, and where the solenoid is?
Im assuming its on top of the tranny where the average joe has a 4 day job ahead of him. Here is my Freeze Frame Data: DTC For Which Freeze Frame Was Stored = P0740 Fuel System 1 Status = Closed Loop Fuel System 2 Status = Not Supported Calculated LOAD Value = 37.25 % Engine Coolant Temperature = 181.4 °F Short Term Fuel Trim - Bank 1 = -2.34 % Long Term Fuel Trim - Bank 1 = 3.13 % Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure = 23.7 inHg Engine RPM = 2304.00 rpm Vehicle Speed Sensor = 58.1 mph |
RE: P0740
The solenoid is inside the transmission. To test it you can ground the signal wire coming from the pcm after second gear and see if the tc locks. If it does then the solenoid is fine. Ground it only after you are in second gear.

Try posting in the diesel section. They would be more help I should think, mostly gassers here. |
