Default 99 gauges work odometer no bus

new to the group. just bought my first diesel it runs great no issues except after i start the engine the check gauges light comes on the odometer reads no bus. all my other gauges work even the odometer " i can tell the next time i start the truck the miles increase". i have looked in many forums but it is very hit and miss. the guy i bought if from said it started when he replaced the gauge cluster. and info or ideas i have ran the check test and have been cleaning up wiring that was done but this is the only issue left with the truck that i am lost on.

Replaced the cluster? So, how many miles are really on it?

Since the cluster has been out, that is the first thing I would check. If it isn't seated into the connectors all the way, you will get some strange behavior.
