98 Ram 1500 5.2 V8 Gas Mileage?
 

I get 12 miles to the gallon which really sucks. Is this the norm that everybody gets?

I have a 98 5.9 V8 and I get a little more than you and I have 33's with 3.5 gears, you may have a loss of power somewhere in there. Although I'm not 100% certain, I would think the 5.2 should be getting a few more mpg than the 5.9, is that correct?

YEP!!!! Thats about right give or take...I miss my 5.9!!!!!!!!!! this 5.2 seems to run SLeepy compared to that beast. And the mileage was waaaaaaaaaaay better with the 5.9..Damn..I thought something needed replacing..Last time I checked i got 11.95 MPG, I have got as good as 13.5 but that is really babying her and not running the air that much..

I get 8 or less when draggin a 2800lb boat. You can actually watch the gas hand go down. I said it once and I will say it again. I do miss that 5.9 engine. That was the toughest, most dependable, efficient, V8 I ever had. The 318 is a good motor and history shows it to be a longer lasting engine, I guess I just favor that other motor. That 5.9 was quick, responsive, well its a night and day difference in every department.

Im gettin 14-15 with my 2001 5.2, and I in no way drive like an old person. Thats also about 70% city driving
