97 dodge ram 5.9L 360 tires and lift kit
hi guy's
My truck is a 97 Dodge Ram ext cab 5.9L 360 K and N filter with a Dynomax's 3inch and snow plow 8 ft western with air lift air bags in the rear.
I just paid for a set of toyo mud tires 285/75/r16 but they will take 4 to 6 weeks to get here.
my question is http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines/off_road/opmt.html
1. Is this the biggest tire I can put on a 97 Dodge Ram with out lift.
2. what is the biggest with a 3 inch lift
3. has anyone put on a lift kit off e bay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
4. will this lift be ok for my truck or should I go with a body lift . http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
5. I still have time to change my tire size and would you with a 3inch lift . i don't want the tires to look small I want the truck to look like a mud truck but i don't want them to rub or rub much
6. also looking to put on a set of http://www.procomptires.com/series1079.htm I like them for the off road look and really like the Extreme rings but can they hold a plow.
Thanks guy's
looking to put a bit of money on my truck but don't want to spend money on fixing problems looking for something good.

RE: 97 dodge ram 5.9L 360 tires and lift kit
Alright, few suggestions...
1. Mud tires aren't going to fare so well when plowing snow, or towing trailers. They don't last nearly as long running on the road as regular all terrain tires do either. They're also noisy [:'(] Unless you're going to actually go mudding, I'd suggest something else.
2. The size of the tire depends on what gear ratio your truck is just as much as it depends on how much room you have to fill. If you go with larger tires, but don't have the gear ratio to run them...you ARE going to notice a loss of power and gas mileage. Even more of a loss in mileage than just going with the mud tires alone.
3. 285/75 is definitely the biggest you should go on a stock truck, especially if you don't have the 4.10 gear ratio.

with those size tires, you might have alittle rub. you will have to see. as for your truck, i would recommend you could also do a 3 inch suspension lift and still be fine as far as plow height, just remember that some stuff might go out faster. normally i would say go the cheap and Ok route and get a 3inch coil spring spacer. but since in a plow truck theres alot of force applyed to the front end. you would be better off with a actual 3inch coil. I would recommend skyjacker for there quality and there also very strong and have a good warrenty. a 3 inch skyjacker kit is $437.00 from jegs. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...tegoryId=11265 also again with the plow you might want to consiter getting the dual shock kit. you will also need new shocks but thats also your choice on company. anything else you need to know, ask away
*edit* also with those rims, im almost possitive that those are fake bead locks and wont affect anything.

Hi again.
The rings are just for looks.
Do you know of any other after maket lift kits that would work for me.
Or is a body lift kit the way to go because I all ready have alot of time put into my front end for the plow.
What tire size with a 3" kit would you go with I already paid for 285/75/R16 but can change them to bigger on Monday or Tuesday they take 4 to 6 weeks to get here.
Thanks again
