Many things done, but finally 1.7's!!!!!
Well, I decided to finish up a project (couple actually) that have been laying around in my garage for some time now. So, when I got back from my transmission flush, here's what I did:
- removed my K&N FIPK and cleaned it up (tube and filter). Inspected for cracks, there were none. - replace my cap and rotor with new one from Summit with brass contacts - installed a new set of 3923 plugs - installed my Mopar Performance 7.5mm plug wires - removed and cleaned the throttlebody and sensors - checked for plenum leak (luckily none) - ***removed valve covers and installed my Harland Sharp 1.7 rockers (Finally!!! They've been in my garage for over a year)***. - installed Mopar Performance valve covers - replaced my battery with an Optima red top. - changed the oil This all took about 7hrs. I'm tired. I took a few pics along the way, but not many because my wife gets pissed when I get dirt or oil on the camera. I'll post what I have tomorrow though. I test drove it for about 20 minutes. My first impression is that the 1.7's (and the general tune-up) have made a very noticable improvement. My dead spot at lower RPMs seems to be gone. Throttle reponse is awesome, and low end torque seems to be better. I will update after I have driven for a few days, and maybe done my usual drive to work a few times so I can compare the drive I am most used to. Will also update on any MPG changes. |

how was the install for the rockers? pretty simple? are they just bolt on or is it more involved than that?

Are you running the stock cam? I am thinking about installing a set of 1.7's also along with a throttle body and an aftermarket computer.
Tonight I ordered a set of gibson headers, magnaflow cat and a flowmaster cat back. Those rockers might be on the next summit order! |

ORIGINAL: HansonHVAC how was the install for the rockers? pretty simple? are they just bolt on or is it more involved than that? They are just bolt on. They are self adjusting. All you do is put them on as pairs, tighten them down together, then torque to 21 ft/lbs. Once you do that, they are at the right height, no other adjustments are necessary. Did you go wth the adjustable ones, or the non-adjustable rockers?? the non-adjustable rockers seem to be a little more expensive then the adjustable ones. Am i right or should i keep looking?

Well, the picture I took of the rockers installed with the valve cover off didn't turn out for crap, so all I have is the after pictures I took of the engine compartment. Sorry. But, just to prove to you that I really did install them, I took a pic of one rocker that is visble through the oil fill cap hole. :D
