LED's
Since I know my headlamp switch rheostat burned out (no running lights, dash lights, or foglamps), I decided that I want to replace all bulbs in my truck with LEDs. I prefer LEDs as they are brighter and use less energy. I am one who does not drive with the dash lights at full intensity.

I just installed an accessory led light over my cup holder... couldnt see it at night so I figured a $2 white led from Rad shack would do the trick. put a 680 ohm resistor in line with it and it looks sweet. 1 led did the trick. I would suggest a 470 ohm resistor in line with each led.

I'm have limited knowledge when it comes to electrical components. Why do you recommend installing the resistor?

limits the current to the LED which dims the brightness. the brighter they are, the shorter the life.

They should have resistors in them if they are made to replace current automotive lights. Otherwise, how do you wire in the resistors?

if they do, they are still to bright for my tastes... If I had a digital camera I could take a pic. both girls who had digitals move out so i'm looking for a used one myself (nikon d200).
the resistors are soldered inline on either the positive or negative terminal... doesnt matter which. I built a mini harness of sorts so I could easily remove it if I prefered the "without" look. I used a short piece of wire soldered to short ends of the resistor body and taped it up... then crimped spade lugs on each end one male & 1 female... did it so all I had to do is yank it out and plug in the one end to the guage. |

I've been searching for sometime, found taillights for the 2nd gens finally. Haven't ordered them yet, but here's a pic
