RE: High Performance Tune-up
Saw this on another forum the other day, but don't know of anyone who has tried it:
http://www.performancedistributors.com/dtrkignition.htm
Otherwise, Mopar makes a kit that includes cap, rotor, and plug wires. It is basically OEM replacement parts though.

RE: High Performance Tune-up
id like to see a dist. cap manufactured and sold to mimic the LS1 style caps that are flat and have the plug posts horizontal instead of vertical.. and its set up so that the 4 cyl. are on the one side and the other 4 are on the other side.. cleans it up rreally nice and ensures that you dont have to cram the damn wires in there to make them fit.
anyways
i was really happy with my MSD setup.. another good tuneup trick is to remove your O2's and clean them... and to switch to syn. oil. in all your fluids (diff, tranny, tcase, crankcase etc etc) i have a write up in the DIY thread on my msd setup if you wanna take a look-see.. i mention in there buying the correct msd coil as some coils have a difference in input resistance and have a tendency to **** off the PCM .. and can burn it out..
heres a shortcut.. https://dodgeforum.com/m_405881/tm.htm
the blaster 3 is choice when looking for a MSD coil..

RE: High Performance Tune-up
This is what I use:
Autolite Double Platinum plugs (Bosch works also, the secret is double platinum).
Accel cap and rotor
Taylor 8.2mm wires (accel works also, the trick to remember is EIGHT mm's).
Mallory coil
Kendall Synthetic racing blend 10w-30 motor oil.
(but most any brand synthetic blend will do, it's all high performance so long it is a synth).

Platinum, double platinum, iridium, triple uranium, weapons grade plutonium, or whatever other precious metals they're deciding to put into spark plugs these days are no good in the magnum engines. You need a simple copper plug with a single electrode and preferably one with a temperature rating slightly cooler than comes stock with the trucks. Autolite 3923's come to mind. Anything fancy can lead to detonation.
