Default 1999 Dodge Ram

Hi Guys or anybody. Hope I'm in the right place. I was told to come to this site for an answer to my question. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 single cab don't know whether it is a SL SLT or anything like that. all I need to know right now is what size gas tank it has. The last 8 didgits of the vin is XS257848. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. I need to order an intank fuel pump and the one that I found at a price I can afford says it will fit but it also says for a 35 gal. tank. I don't think my tank is 35 gal.

Request a build sheet from dodge. Either online, or, your local dealer. That will tell you exactly what your truck came with from the factory.

If you are looking at an air-tex pump, don't bother, you will be replacing it again in a year anyway.

Thanks HeyYou, you have been very helpful, I don't use these forums often and it is hard to get to the right place if you don't know how all of this stuff works, so I appreciate your help. Have a wonderful day

stock is 26 gallon. Easiest way to tell is when your filling it up on under an 1/8 tank, you'll get about 22 gallons in it. I mean have you ever gotten high 20s in gallons when filling? the 35 gallon tank was an option but definitely not standard.

Actually, it was.... on long-bed trucks.

...and diesels....both long and short beds.

Best way is measure and compare to other tanks or do the fill test. The absolute most I've filled is 25 gal. If you have a single cab, is your bed long or short?

Thanks zildjian3707 for your information, I contacted the local dealer and gave him the last 8 digits of the vin and he told me that it came out with a 26 gallon tank then HeyYou advised me to contact Dodge Corp. and request a build sheet and I did that and I have every thing on this truck now, thanks to you guys.
