Here's a weird one.....................

After driving my 99 1500 4x4 5.9 Sport and I get out to close the door when I park I get a minor shock (such as if you were to touch an un-grounded hi-lo ), Any ideas? The truck is running and performing great and no code lights are bugging me. Im just tired of being shocked. No, it doesnt happen a second time unless I drive it again.

What kind of seats? Cloth or leather? If Cloth then it is static electricity when you slide across the seat..happens to me. Someone told me to spray static guard on my seats..don't know if works..never tried.

Yeah if you have cloth seats it'll shock the hell out of you every time you get out. My wife's car has cloth seats and whenever I have to drive it when I get outI touch the door with my forearm first so my fingers don't get it. [8D] I've been told there's some sort of spray you can use on the seats to cut down or even get rid of the shock.

That is the whole premise behind the gas fumes igniting while filling the car at the gas pump, which is usually in the news during the winter months, when the air is more dry than in the summer. A person slides out across the cloth seats, puts the gas nozzle in the filler tube, starts the pump, then discharges the static charge which can ignite the fumes. It is recommended to touch the car prior to putting the nozzle in the filler tube. This willdisapate the staic charge. Several gas staion videos have shown how this has happened to unsuspecting people.

i think if you touch the outside of the car first before u get out should stop it.

Thanks guys. Yup, I have cloth seats and I guess it's a built in "wake your butt up!" feature.
