Still sounds like a wrist pin to me.. rod bearing would have went pretty fast...main bearings would only do it on decel... since it stops when #5 plug wire is removed.. points me back to that piston.. let us know

I will be putting new heads (EQ heads with 2.02 valves) new cam and lifters (KRC 210x) and also the SCT tune from Hemifever. I am planning on cutting the runners on the intake to compliment the cam and heads.

Default Ticking noise when accelerating

I have a ticking noise when I ge between 40 and 50. Gets a little louder as you go up hills but not like an engine knock it is like a tick where something is loose or something. I can go over 50 and under 40 and you do not hear it at all. Almost sounds like it is not getting enough gas or something. Has anyone else had this issue?
Just had the O2 sensors changed but still making the noise.

Get a mirror and a flashlight (not a mega bright LED light though since it just makes everything white) and inspect the flange where your y-pipe meets the exhaust manifolds along with where the manifolds are bolted to the heads for soot.
You might have an exhaust leak.

Most of that, if not the lifters, is actualy in the valve guides. SM's say to apply slight side pressure to the valve spring while the engine is running to see if the noise goes away. depending on severity, new valve guides are reccomended. You drive it long enough, and you just won't notice any more.......or.....turn the radio up!
