I've seen a lot of posts recommending 1.7 harland sharp roller rockers are a great upgrade for our engines. The thing I don't completely understand is how they help the engine other than it makes it run like it has a larger cam from some of what I read.

Just trying to understand how installing these rockers improve the low end torque on the magnum engines. Also would adjustable rockers be better to get than the non-adjustable rockers? Reason I ask that is the last time I had my heads off the engine and looked at the rockers, I noticed that one or two of the rockers had some slight play even at proper bolt torque settings. Rockers should always be in full contact with the valve and have no play, correct me if I'm wrong. If not, would that cause a misfire?

 

Higher ratio rocker arms open the valve faster and higher, and hold it open for a much longer total period of time than a lower ratio. I don't know why it specifically works so well in the Magnum engine application, since it tends to vary from engine to engine. But rest assured the guys at HS have done their research. I don't know about the misfire, but I know they shouldn't typically have play...I have seen them rattle.

 

So do these rockers really give enough of a performance gain to make them worth the money?

 

they are worth the money. my next favorite performance mod after the superchip 3815.

more air requires more gas.
