Tune up time for my 4.7 flex engine
 

After limited success with the search mode, I'm just going to ask. I'm looking at doing a full tune-up on my truck and I want to hear what you have experienced. Are there any aftermarket parts available that are better to use, like coil packs or injectors? What plugs are best for the uppers and lowers? Maybe we can make a sticky out of this info? The possibilities are endless. :icon_lol:

Stick with OEM for plugs as listed on the underhood sticker. Coil packs and injectors are not maintenance items so I wouldn't waste money there. Plugs, oil, oil filter and air filter, call it a day. Don't over think it. Check your owners manual for other recommended maintenance items for the mileage you are at.

Not a bad idea to go for a complete tune-up, especially if you don't know the maintenance history on the truck. If it's got over 170K on it, you might consider changing out most, if not all, of the fluids: coolant, oil, transmission, brake, steering, and differential. Maybe even a fuel system service and throttle body cleaning. I don't think I'd do any flushes, though; just a straight fluid replacement. Oh, and the air filter and OEM plugs like jkeaton said.
