4th Gen Dakota Coverage

Looks like a 4th Gen Ram Dakota is all but certain, especially when it's talked about at shareholder meetings!

News straight out of Detroit:

Might even be built in the United States!

Last I saw they were backing off. FCA said buyers who want a midsize can buy the Ram classic for the same price of a midsize.

But it won't fit in my driveway . . . .

2019 Ram 1500 classic - 209″ L x 79.4″ W x 74.6″ H
2005 Dodge Dakota quad cab 218.8″ L x 71.7″ W x 68.6″ H

The Dakota is longer, only 8" less width, and 6" shorter? Is the internet lying to me?

It is the width that is my problem. My neighbour and I share a driveway between our houses. A full-sized truck just makes it too tight.

If this is it, it looks terrible....

Rumors have a new Ram 1200 ( Fiat Fullback ) coming in 2021-22. Whether it's called a Ram 1200 or Dakota is anyone's guess, if it even comes to the US at all.

The Fiat Fullback is a pickup truck that was developed between Fiat and Mitsubishi a few years ago, the truck is identical to the fifth generation of the Mitsubishi L200. The engines available are a 2.4 Diesel, a 2.5 Diesel, and a 2.4 Gasoline as of now. I assume that the next Gen of this truck is what we might see here in the good old USA. http://yoursmiles.org/bsmile/flag/american.gif

Who knows, maybe we'll see the Dakota and it's twin, the Mitsubishi Raider, both appear once again.

I think that truck shown in the Autotrader article in the above post is the smaller Fiat Strada truck.

nope. I had the same realization when I was looking at a 2005 silverado. It was litteraly just wider, to make the bed a 4ft wide between the wheel wells. Other than that the 3rd gen dakota might as well have been a full size truck.

lol, all to get that sheet of plywood. Anyway, I'm someone who would buy the 1500 for the same money.(if I had money) Dakota barley makes it into my carport, something a little shorter would be nice.

I don't see much point in a rebadged Gladiator, so we'll see what/if they do.

The internet is lying to you. That 209" Ram Classic is a short bed, regular cab. A quad cab is going to be about 238". That's a LOT longer than the Dakota.
