Default Front Tire's

A slight thumping has developed in my two front tires. They are GoodYear original equipment with 14,000 miles on them. Upon further inspection there is one area on each tire about 2” in diameter that is flat. Any idea’s Tires rotated @ 6,000 , seemed OK then.

Usually that is referred to as cupping, and is caused by poor tire balance. That is very common with gooyear brand tires for some reason.

Wow Ive never heard of that. How is that caused? The tire is unbalanced so its actually pressing harder to the pavement at a certain spot??

It is caused by misalignment and aggravated by insufficient rotation and insufficient inflation pressure.

Each wheel position has its own characteristic wear pattern that's determined by the vehicle (suspension geometry, steering geometry, braking action, etc.), the type of driving you do (road surface texture, hills, curves, amount and sharpness of the turns, etc.), and your driving style. If the tire is left in that position, the wear gets exaggerated (irregular).

Rotation causes the tire to develop a different - and usually counterbalanced - wear pattern.

Put another way, rotation doesn't generate even wear, it counteracts irregular and uneven wear.

also most of the time when this happens the belts inside the tire break loose from each other. might be covered under the warrenty check your packet that came with the truck or go to a certified goodyear tire center and ask
