RE: Oil Filter Comparison
Not putting down the site but it was last updated in 2000, I would say that some of the manufacturers may have changed their internal designs either for the better or possibly the worse to save money. That being said I have used different kinds of filters and have always gone back to Fram with no oil filter related failures. I have had engines go over 180,000 miles on quaker state and Fram. I am sure if you were going to keep a vehicle forever or pass it down to the kids it might be adventagous to use expensive filters and synthetic oil, but the longest I have kept a vehicle is 10 years and 180,000 miles.

RE: Oil Filter Comparison
I guess I just see no reason to risk it with FRAM or other similar filters when well known high quality filters aren't that much more, Napa Gold is actually priced quite reasonably and is a Wix filter, up until recently it's all I ran, currently running an Amsoil EA filter, for me it's peace of mind.

I was looking for oil filter info and I came across your comments. Here are some more links you might like. I know they are written by the devil (toyota), but it doesn't look too biased.

Interesting article ^ I usually get the Mopar one because for some reason Walmart has it in stock every time I go haha. This weekend, however, I just grabbed the Mopar one which looked like the one I needed but it turned out to have much bigger threads than the one intended for the 4.7L.. :/ So after spending the extra money on Castrol GTX I had to go to Autozone and get a filter since I picked up the wrong one at Walmart. If I go there I buy the Fram TG16 (the heavy duty grey one) but after reading this thread I will go with Mobil or stick with Mopar!

Cardboard end caps are no big deal. Factory Honda and Toyota filters are built that way.

I have never had an issue with a Fram... check this out http://www.fram.com/proof

I've used fram on every vehicle I have owned and have never had an issue with them. Been using them on my Dak since the first oil change.

just going to Chime in here but if you look at the box and only go by that info then the FRAM is the filter that performs the least at 95% filteration, the tough guard is at 99% you have the Bosch at 99.9% Purilator Gold at 99.8% these numbers might be biase by the company but they are all the companies #'s .. main reason I stay away from Fram ..
