Any Yokahoma Tire Experience??

Looking at a set of Yokahoma Geolandar, 265/65/17 for the Dak. Like the tread design and most reports I've read are favorable for all driving conditions. Anyone have any experience with the Yokos? By the time I pay TireRack shipping I can buy a set from the local Discount Tire store for the same amount.
Thanks...

a few guys i know that ran them liked them. the only complaint i heard was one of the guys had them on his jeep. he didnt really care for them in heavy rain, we could only come up with is light weight jeep and 36-38psi tire pressure.

I have read the same reviews on Tirerack.com. They seem like a good tire.

I thought you were going to go 265/70 r17?

Just do it!

blkmagic 09-25-2008 03:15 PM

Gonna go with the 265/65/17, replace what size is on the truck. It happens tomorrow afternoon. Staying with the stock size, know there won't be problems and the stock size looks good on the truck. Done Deal... Thanks for the input though..

Just last week i got the yokohama geolander a\t 285 75r16 installed on my trx4 it does have the trailmaster leveing kit (using the spring compressor) the truck sat up with the leveing kit and now with the yokohama a\t this thing is a monster!! truck came with the 3.92 gears and 8 inch wide rims.. I removed the front "splash guards and modded the pinch weld and did some minor trimming of the front bumper. well worth it to me

not even in the same ball park, BUT, i have Yoko S-Drives on my stratus the hold the road like mad crazy, I'd say go for it!

BadStratRT 09-26-2008 01:56 PM

I have had several sets of Yokohamas on my stratus, with no problems. the falkens that i have now are junk, and im sorry that i went away from the yokos.

when working as a mechanic, i had several customers who purchased and had no problems with geolanders.

lookin at them they aren't a bad lookin tire i like them they look sharp

blkmagic 09-26-2008 05:33 PM

Took the plunge and had them put on this afternoon...truck rides and handles totally different, all for the better. An agressive tread design and fills the wheel opening really well...think I'm staisfied so far. Thanks for the info from everyone.

they look good i like them about how much again did you spend on them? the white letter on the outside of the tire looks good.

blkmagic 09-27-2008 02:42 PM

It was $767 for everything, mounted balanced, valve stems, road hazzard ins., taxes and all....could have spent less or more but medium price for this area. They screwed up and put 265/70/17 on instead of 65s so have to see if I can pull the wheel well panels away from the tired some. Heard they scrub once.

lowcountrykid 09-27-2008 03:26 PM

shoot thats not to bad ....did you say anything to them that they put the 70s on

blkmagic 09-27-2008 05:00 PM

Not yet, just went for a ride and I'm getting some pretty good rubbing at the lower rear quarters, where the Laramie mud flaps are during a turn...we'll see...

codydakota 09-27-2008 05:26 PM

Those are the same tires I had on my '93 dak (except mine were a little smaller). They were damn good tires.
