I have done a lot of reading on here, most of my mods have been thanks to others on here
and there input. Lots of help here!! This last week I have done a few things to the truck. PA body lift Daystar levelling kit Monroe front struts Monroe rear shocks - still need to be installed thanks to a stubborn bolt 2" rear blocks Other than that, not a whole lot else recently here is a pic stock |
more pics to come when I figure out how to do it without photobucket or other outside site.
Good Looking truck. This isn't a pick with the lift on is it? How hard was it to install? Do you have a pic of how low the hitch sits now (if you have one)?
no, that's stock height. Lift isn't that hard to do if you have some basic tools. It's mostly
time consuming, expecially for the first time. If I did one again, it would be a bit easier. The kit is pretty well put together, but it was missing a few 1/4 nyloc nuts etc. that I had kicking around in my work van. The most important tools would be a 1/2 inch drive (which I didn't have), angle grinder with a cutting disk, torque wrench, floor jack, wood blocks and a set of extra hands around when you need help. |
Nice truck and welcome to the site.

Lookin good, Welcome to DF!

body lift with front leveling kit, no rear blocks yet
Attachment 105389 And here is the final product now. Complete with rear blocks. Now for some bigger tires!!! Anyone know what size tires Coondog is running? Attachment 105390 |
I'm 95% sure hes running 33's or a tire size thats a hair larger like a 285 80 16 or something like that. With the body lift and leveling kit you can run 33s no problem. I have the Trailmaster leveling kit and i'm running 32's.
Thanks. I don't think there is room to go very wide, so I'm kind of aiming for 285/70-17's. I don't know it you can go much bigger than that. If so, please let me know.
Really nice truck sleds!
Sleds, can you take a picture of the hitch? I would like to see how low it sits.
nice truck! im running 285/75,s.... you will have a "slight" rub at full lock with M/T,s but if you go with all terrain rubber you will be fine!
looks good, 2 things you need to do now, find a nice set of gap guards for the rear spacing, and get some nice gloss frame paint and give it a nice shine
How easy was the steering extension? Thats the only thing keeping me from doing mine.
Looks good! keep it up!
Looks good. Welcome to DF!

Thanks for all of the compliments guys. It is still a work in progress, but I think it's coming along nicely. I have always loved Coondog's truck.
Cuban, I will see if I have a picture of the rear for you. Long day today. The steering extension is part of the kit and a snap to do. Everything steers and feels good driving still. |

Ah, here you go Cuban, not a real good pic, but you can kind of see what it looks like back there now. You can definately see the tire, and I think if I repainted the hitch it would look not to bad. This pic is without the rear blocks in, but of course that doesn't change what the spacing to the bumper is.
Attachment 105252 Superdak, thanks for the heads up on the gaps, I am working on that. My dad has an old heavy inner tube kicking around somewhere at his cabin that I am going to see if it will work. I don't know what else to use, any ideas? As far as the frame, I don't know if I am going to put side steps on or not. Still thinking about it. |
thanks sled! you can buy gap gaurds from where you got your lift... but all it is, is an overpriced peice of quarter inch rubber! a black floor mat lke one used for the back or bench seat will work! well anything around 3 feet long and easally trimable for that matter! hope this helps!
Home depot sells that rubber garage door bottom sweep... its like a half circle rubber piece... they are 12 bucks... and they are black. might be worth a look.
look at the pic over the rear wheel.... he needs to fill the big space between the frame rail and the bed! its an eyesore without gap gaurds
yeah, thats a big gap...
Yeah, it's 3 inches. I got home last night and walked by the truck and realized I have really got to do something about that quickly. It definately detracts from the look.
a black outdoor rubber floor mat " like a runner" is the same thing basically i paid 50 bucks for from "PA" where i got the lift.... you need like a 9" by 3 foot strip!
that truck looks awsome you might have convinced me to get the body lift looks good man
Thanks, canadian. Wait until after the weekend. I hope to get the m/t's on this weekend and fill that gap at the back. Then it should look good!!
dont feel bad...i signed up a long time ago and even forgot why i stopped coming here....then i got reminded pretty quick. you wouldn't think there would be fighting between dodge owners
