Emblem Removal?
 

I want to give my truck a more custom look, and was wondering what the proper way to remove the plastic dodge, V8, and SLT logos. I remember there being a post in the DIY section, but I can't find it.

decal remover and dental floss works great as well..

You must buy some extremely strong dental floss, I gave that a shot first when I debadged mine and it kept snapping.

It also helps if you heat the emblem with a hair dryer or heat gun. You don't want it to hot, just enough the dental floss will slice through it. Good luck.

dont use floss, get some fishing line, it is stronger. and yes heating the emblem will make it easier to remove

You know what? I think I did use fishing line.

fishing line, heat, goof off, patience (don't want to scratch the paint) and I also used a old credit card. (to scrape with, not to pay someone.) then wax it really good when your done. Depending on the color of your truck and how long it's been in the sun, you may see a little difference in the color where the decals were. in a couple of weeks, that will blend right in with more exposure to the sun.

I definitely recommend getting the eraser wheel and using Hammer's method vs. using goof off or something else to get the residue off. It will make your job much easier, I wish I'd known about that when I did mine.

If you don't use that I would pick up some 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover. You can get it at most auto parts stores and it is designed to be safe for paint. Personally I'm a bit wary of using goof-off on my paint, I've seen it start dissolving and bubbling plastic before I can't imagine it's too kind to paint either. I heated my emblems and then squirted some of the adhesive remover behind to soak into the adhesive before I started in with the fishing line (after the first failed attempt with floss, lol). If you take your time using this and a soft cloth you will be able to get the residue off without using a scraper, most wholesale clubs (BJ's, Costco, etc) sell large packs of microfiber cloths for around $10 that won't scratch your paint.

Whichever method you use be sure to wash the area off and hit it with some wax after you're done and good luck ;)
