Default 05 Dakota lower ball joint replacement cost

How much should I expect to be charged to have both lower ball joints replaced on my 05 Dakota 3.7 4WD?

When I had my passanger side done it was about $235 for the part, labor and an alignment. For both, expect to pay about $350 or so depending on the shop.

The ball joints themselves are about $50 from orielly if you can find somone to put them in. You can always try buying the parts and taking it to a shop and offering to pay cash. Normally they can give you a good deal because it will just be a side job.

My mechanic no longer allows customer supplied parts. He always used to but has recently changed his policy.

Side note, would I need a 4-way alignment or just a front end alignment on this truck?

Where I go they charged me the price to align a 4x4 which was $80.

A car costs $65. I dont think it matters if only the front end needs to be aligned in a truck, I think it is still the same process. Not sure though.

depending on the mileage, if you are under the 70000 mile, they will replace them for free, but just dont get the ball joints. you may also need the control arms depending on how much wear there is

Truck has 40k. These are covered under the powertrain warranty? I bought the truck used and haven't transferred the powertrain over to me.

They just replaced the lower ball joints themselves. Ended up being $617 for both lower ball joints and a tranny flush. OUCH! That makes about $2000 in maintenance/repairs in the 10 months I have owned it, plus around $1000 in cosmetic fixes. I hope this truck doesn't need any work for a little while. It only has 41k on it.
