Where's the horn?
 

Hey guys,
I went mudding yesterday (Ill post pictures/video when I get home) and I had water up past the front bumper at points. I ended up covering my whole engine compartment in muddy water. Everything seems ok, but I need to give everything a good cleaning. On problem I do have though is my horn now sounds like someone farting through a trumpet and it isnt very loud. Where is it? Im hoping its just covered in mud and not ruined. Are these things pretty indestructable? Thanks for your help.

Check out the dual support brakets in front of the radiator. It is mounted on the driver side just above the front bumper.

lol at your horn, sounds like a good excuse to get an "aaaahhuuuuuuggaaaaa" horn, lol! can't wait to see the vids.

I would just be pissed if the one thing I ruined was a horn .... how does that happen!?!

I did get nervous though; we didnt start taking the trucks through deep water until near the end, and when we were getting ready to leave my truck started to squeal every time the front left wheel rotated. It stopped within a mile of the place though so Im not sure what it was. A lot of fun, AND A LOT OF CLEANING! I figured Id clean the engine bay today, underside tomorrow (including removing the wheels and cleaning the back of them), and then detailing the door jams and everything hopefully on Sunday.

I bet your squeal was just a belt in your steering system. Probably just wet and needed to dry off to stop. Have fun cleaning. It's a good idea to pull the wheels (as you mentioned), because after I went last time, I thought I did a really good job getting the undercarraige and everything clean...until i got a flat tire and the damn thing wouldn't come off. I had to pry it from the back because of the accumulation of dirt back there!

Lol! I did the same this past weekend. Drove through a washed out portion of road on a trail. Water well over the hood. All of the sudden I lost the radio and all dash function. Got out and checked under the hood to find that I had forgot to cover the fuse box the night before when working on the truck. Lucky I didn't lose the cover. All dash function was restored by the time I replaced the cover and got back in the truck. I haven't tried my horn since though....

I found the horn today when I was under there because I got a misfire code. There wasnt any dirt in it, so I think it might be done. Maybe its time for an airhorn, but Ill probably let this one dry out for a little while to see if it comes back to life. Right now when I lock my doors though all you hear is a little toot.

Did you have to dry out the fuse box or anything? Sounds like you got lucky!
