Tranny fluid change question
My truck has just under 90,000 on it. I've never changed the transmission fluid. I know I should've gotten it done at 60,000, but never did. I went to my usual oil change place to get it done. They told me they don't do those anymore, and pointed me to another place. But, the guy that runs the oil change place told me if you don't get it changed at the intervals in the manual, it's best not to get it changed at all. I was told by a friend that his mechanic told him the same thing. Anybody ever heard this before? Should I get it changed? Or just let it go?

They are kinda correct. You can do a filter and fluid change anytime but they dont recommend a flush if you've never done anything with it. If you've never flushed it then you run the risk of breaking loose buildup that might be hanging around and causing either damage or leaks. But just changing the filter and fluid wont hurt anything.

I just changed mine on my '07 3.7L. It had around 125,000km on it and I just thought it was about time to change it, it's really hard to find the old cork gaskets, so I just used some black gasket goop stuff. Also finding the quantities for the automatic transmission was frustrating, but it's 4-5 quarts. I overfilled mine and had to siphon some out with a hose down the dipstick tube.

with the BG flush you dont even need to change the filter, Just flush and your done. We have been doing this service in my shop for years, at a rate of about 8 flushes a week and I can only recall 1 issue after service. Which probably had nothing to do with flushing, would have happened anyway. As far as the filter goes most trans dont have a filter anymore its just a screen, kind of like oil pick up but finer
