wow i'm shocked

okay so my brother back home went to this exhaust guy i had been dealingwith for years andhas done multiple vehicles for me...i have my own muffler and tips...all i want is y-pipes straight to themuffler and the the like 2 feet of piping from that to the tips...he was 500 bucks! I'm sorry but i think that is a little bit of BS...what yall think?

A custom system here including a muffler (no tips) would run me around $350-500 depending on the shop and it was aluminized steel and it wasnt mandrel bent, so it would have crimps in it. No shop around here was even capable of bending stainless. After a set of nice tips, it put me close to if not over the $500 mark, so I bought a T304 Stainless system that was mandrel bent - a top of the line performance system - for $520, and paid a small corner shop $100 on one of their slow mornings to throw it on.

WTEBOY703 Nov 11, 2010 11:24 PM

yeah but i dont think this guy rememebers who my brother is in relation to me...so just have to get back and talk to him myself!

thunder98110 Nov 11, 2010 11:26 PM

might as well have headers installed for 500 bucks!

Blown287 Nov 11, 2010 11:43 PM

That is way too much. Shop around, I wouldn't bay more than 100 bucks to have a setup welded. Especially since you have your own parts.

You should file charges for being raped if you paid $500 if you have your own parts. I paid $70 and then left an $10 tip for the installer because he did such a good job right in front of me. I paid $200 for the parts then $70 + 10 tip for the install.

You could just do it yourself like I did. I measured and cut the length of pipe I needed and welded it on. Total price of 18$ for the pipe. Too bad I didn't live closer, I would weld it for free for ya.
