Anyone running 35's ?
 

i have some new wheels coming in and was wondering if anyone was running 35's on their 3rd gen and what it took to run them? right now im running 32.5 with 2" leveling kit and a 2" wheel spacer. Got the new rims with less backspacing so wouldn't need the spacer . Have a 3" body lift coming this week as well. I dont mind hacking up the fenders, you should see what i do to a turkey on thanksgiving :icon_wink:

I dont think its even possible without cutting the fenders... :D

Hm, 35" is alot of tire. I hope youre running 3.92s at the minimum, otherwise that truck probably wont be able to get out of its own way. Lol. The hardest part is going to be the front tire to clear when turning. I would just take the front bumper off before I got them installed, and trim accordingly when I got home. Look at taking off the front splash guards too, otherwise if those things arent trimmed before you get 35s, youll take them out on your first turn.

i have seen one guy with 2wd on 35 on cardomain with the airbagit 3" suspension lift+ 3" body lift so its possible hope you dont mint trimming your metal body a bit

Im running 35 inch M/Ts (BFG 315/75/R16). I did a 2 inch coil spacer leveling kit (which was actually a 1.5 inch spacer), 3 inch body lift, cut the firewall a little and front fenders, removed the front "mud flaps" and put 2 inch wheel spacers on the stock alloy rims. I also cut the rear fenders a little since the tires stick out slightly with the spacers on. I can turn almost lock to lock...it rubs on the chasis when the steering wheel is at about 495 degrees either left or right of center. And I did not change the gearing. The 4.7 liter does well with the 35 inchers. No problems getting up to speed on the freeway or 4x4 off road.

Oh yeah, and I completely removed the stupid plastic that surrounds the bumper until I was able to build my custom bumper.

Thanks! I was sort of impressed myself when I got them on and they worked out. I actually tried to test/calculate it as much as possible before blowing 2K on tires that wouldn't fit. With the stock tires a friend and I articulated each front wheel up as much as possible turned both to the right and then to the left and each time, measured out 6 inches (stock tires are 29 inches, about). THen I installed the leveling kit and body lift and bought one 35 inch tire and had it mounted on the spare wheel. While saving up for the remaining tires, I used the time to make all the cuts to make the tires fit. I would mount the 35 inch spare in one place, make all the cuts til it fit, then move it to the next wheel well and do the same.

It was sort of a gamble since I had not seen it done before (even after searching for hours in online forums). But it turned out to be quite easy and in doing all the work myself I learned quite a bit.

well, after i put on the body kit sitting in my garage this spring, I know what size tire im going with when these coopers run out :)
