Default 4wd low on dash is blinking

2011 Dakota Crewcab

When I put the 4wd indicator into low the 4wd low starts blinking on my dash. Is this normal?

Thanks, Paul

Does it ever go solid? And are you stopped or rolling?

Nah, no neutral or park, just a complete stop and if it by change does sense its ok when you are moving it's kinda harsh on everything.

It never goes solid. I have tried it both ways, stopped and rolling.

Thanks, Paul

Ok! I just tried putting the truck into 4wd low while in park and the light still flashes. I then put the truck in neutral and the 4wd low now engages and the light went solid on the dash.

Looks like my truck will only engage 4wd low only when in neutral.

Thanks, Paul

Mine is the same way. I can go into and out of 4-hi rolling, stopped, neutral, reverse, whatever, but to get into 4-lo, I have to come to a complete stop. Shift to 4-hi and let it engage, then shift into neutral and then turn to 4-lo. Been that way since I got it and it works the same way all the time. If I don't do it that way, the 4-lo will just sit there and blink at me.

i didnt use my 4x4 for like a year then when I finally needed to use it it took a couple of days before it would engage on command, I find that a slight 1mph roll will help engage it into 4lo.
