Welcome to the forum, if it were me I would stick with synthetic, I don't see how driving 2k miles in the summer would necessitate the need to switch from synthetic to conventional (if by "mineral oil" you mean conventional).

 

You can switch back and forth as many times as you like, but why the want to switch to dino oil is beyond me. You get a LOT better protection with true synthetics...

No reason to go back unless it is a financial problem in my eyes..synthetic is the way to go!

 

I don't even know if economics is a reason. Conventional oil changes & regular filter at 3000 miles vs. a full synthetic and premium filter at 6000 miles should work out pretty damn close in the long run...

 

Switched to full synthetic a year ago and never looked back. Just look for sales and buy it while it's cheap.

 

+5000. With so many miles until your next oil change, there will be plenty of sales to choose from, so if you want you can even pick a favorite brand. I like Mobil 1, for example, for my oil. It goes on sale half way frequently.

 

Yep, I can usually pick up a 5 QT. jug of Valvoline Synpower with a free K&N or Purolator filter for $28.95 if I keep my eye on the Advance Auto ads, then I just need the two extra quarts at regular price...
