Evaporator drain 2006 Dakota
Anybody know where this stupid drain is on a 2006 Dakota? I've looked all over.

Looks like its just behind the passenger side exhaust manifold, half of it is behind the heatshield. What a crappy place.

Now that helps a bunch! Thanks FrenicX for taking a look for me! With this "design Flaw" since its not a round pipe, what kind of elbow would you put over it so it drains properly? I can see how air could flow back up the pipe while driving and not allowing it to drain properly.

Perhaps that's why some people get a wet floor or their AC stops working after and hour of freeway driving. But, the heatshield there has a chute shape to it that is an obvious attempt at making a drain gutter. So they may have though that would be enough.

Yea, I see that as well. Funny thing is my 06 has a different lookin heat shield. It's a lot longer back towards the passenger tire with a flip just in front of the drain. Not like yours at all. Pretty sad when a elbow and short piece of hose would have made it work perfectly, run it behind the heat shield and no more problem. Sometimes ya just have to scratch your head. Makes no sense! If I could get a pic I would it's hard to see.

Evaporator Drain 2006
Guys, so very appreciative to your post. My 2006 Dodge Dakota 4X4 RT, decided it needed to melt the Evaporator Drain behind the heat shield on the firewall. Could not figure out why the water was sloshing and draining into the driver side and passenger side. Saw your posting and it helped us to figure out the next steps. Since the water was clean and no debris, we were able to heat up (Cherry Red Hot) 6 inch poker and poke through the evaporator drain that was melted to let the water drain out. Put everything back together and we are working fine. Thank you for your posting.
