I took my 2010 dakota to be looked at the dealership for engine light. They said I needed a
1, tune up
2. New plug wires
3. PCM reflashed
4. missing a ground wire (aftermarket radio was installed with truck when I bought the truck)because my a/c flickers on and off
5. Battery cable needs to be sautered for a new terminal.

Why would my pcm need reflashing?

If one cracked do I just replace just the coil pack or all 6?

If it's the 4.7 twin-plug engine (like my friend's 2007) it has a coil pack on the top plug, in the same location as the single plug engines, but the coil pack also has a spark plug wire leading to the second plug near the exhaust manifold.

At first glance that is what I thought as well, however, in his profile it states he has the V6.

Not sure what the dealership meant. May have been trying to pull a fast one on you, hoping you didn't know anything about your car (like the average consumer).

If one wire/coil was cracked/broken, then you'd need just that coil replaced, not all. How many miles on the truck?

PCM may need flashing due to a TSB. They may have updated programming for your engine.

$1300 for that? I'd be running away from that dealer as fast as I could. Have them flash the PCM if it's really needed. The other stuff you can do yourself for under $100, if that much.

no go. we don't have wires..you replace one at a time. never replaced one on mine and I've got 110k

$1300 ? Dam, I'm missing out it looks like! I wondered why I had not become rich by now. I guess because I'm not charging $1300 for a tune up, flash and battery terminals...lol.

Tune up on a 3.7 $129.95... I think. Your 2010 3.7 should have 3 coils and 3 wires. It's a strange setup that they started recently. One side has 3 coils and each coil has a wire going to the other bank. They come 3 to a package for I remember 45 bucks ?
Diag labor 1.0..attach the ground that was loose..30 seconds. Part of the diag fee.


SOLDER battery terminals?? Mopar has replacements with the stud on them. All you have to do is drill a hole through the flat part of the base of the present ones and attach...IF there is enough "meat" left.

I retract my first post. I've always been told there are no plug wires on my truck on this forum. After reading your post, I went looking under my hood. There are indeed wires coming off the coil packs on the drivers side of the truck. They run across the top of the engine, but are hidden from sight by the plastic box that connects to the intake and lead to the passenger side plugs.
