i need to know if any keyless entry remote/key fob will be able to be programed to work on my 2005 dodge dakota, or will any dodge remote work, or does it have to be the $170.00 remote with the key built in( all in one key and remote) i dont want to spend 170 dollars on a remote

You can buy one off ebay cheaper. Moving to the correct section. Welcome to DF.

You need to have two working key fobs to be able to program a new fob. If you don't have two working fobs, you have to get a new one from a dealer, or some locksmiths can do it too. The procedure to program remotes are in the owners manual. When searching Ebay for a new fob, put the part number from the back of your fob into the search, because all Dodge fobs are not alike.

This is all providing that you have the Sentry key of course (chip in it).
